Naturing young talents

The Uganda Schools Rugby Association (USRA) is the official governing body for schools rugby in Uganda, working in partnership with the Uganda Rugby Union. Since the late 1990s, USRA has been at the forefront of developing rugby in primary and secondary schools across Uganda, creating a strong foundation for the future of Ugandan rugby.

About USRA

Founded in the late 1990s by passionate educators from pioneering schools including St. Mary's College Kisubi (SMACK), Namilyango College, and King's College Budo, the Uganda Schools Rugby Association began as a grassroots movement to introduce rugby into schools. What started with a handful of enthusiastic teams has grown into a nationwide organization overseeing the development and management of both boys' and girls' rugby across 15s and 7s formats in primary and secondary schools throughout Uganda. Over the years, USRA has been instrumental in nurturing young talent, establishing structured competitions, and building a strong foundation for the sport at school level, contributing significantly to Uganda's national rugby ecosystem.

To promote and develop rugby in schools nationwide, providing opportunities for student athletes to grow, learn, and compete in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.

The development of this website reflects our commitment to transparency, communication, and engagement with all our stakeholders—from students and coaches to parents, alumni, rugby fans and sponsors. Here, you will find up-to-date information on fixtures, results, tournaments, development programs, and key initiatives aimed at nurturing young Rugby talent in Uganda at school level. We strongly believe that rugby, a fast growing sports in schools, is not just a game but a powerful tool for character building, discipline, teamwork, and national pride.
